Oktoberfest doesn't necessarily have to happen during the month of October. The last weeks of September is fair game for the festival as well. In Spokane, we'll have our own Oktoberfest with over 20 participating breweries from across the state.

State parks hope to recover lost funds with Discover Pass

In order to make up for the lost funds from the general fund, Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife managed lands are requiring Discover Passes for recreator vehicles.

The $30 passes are projected to earn the state about $65 million in revenue over the next two years. That number is similar to the $64 million taken out of the general fund for state parks.

Fight breaks out at Airway Heights Corrections Center's medium security complex

A fight involving 16 medium security offenders at the Airway Heights Corrections Center's recreation yard resulted in no serious injuries to offenders.

Administrative program manager, Risa Klemme, at the corrections center reports that the facility is secure and staff members are in the process of interviewing all offenders to determine what led to the fight.

All offenders are currently confined to their units and movement is being monitored. The minimum security complex, housing 600 offenders, was not affected in the fight.

Two state park volunteers from Airway Heights are recipients of the 2010 Volunteer Recognition Awards for their volunteer service. John and Darlene Lundstrum were awarded Host of the Year for their work at Sun Lakes-Dry Falls State Park by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission.

"Rolling Video Games" Trailer = Awesome!

It's official, I wish I could be 13 years old forever. Today I had the opportunity to dilly dally around in a "Rolling Video Games" trailer. When they first showed up Robyn Nance insisted I come and check it out (it was a setting place for a Wednesday Child shoot). At first i was hesitant for some reason, it took two invites to get me out there and let me tell you I'm glad I did!

Airway Heights Rollover Crash Alcohol Related

A rollover crash in Airway Heights Thursday night was alcohol related, according to police.

The crash happened just before midnight near Hayford road.  Police said the female driver lost control while driving down the street and rolled her vehicle off the road.

The woman was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver had alcohol on her breath and she will be charged with driving under the influence.
